Karan Singh. Several hats, one pair of hands.
SinghStream is me. The websites, the streaming systems and the event streams are all designed, built and looked after by one person, which is why they all work the same way: simply.
Media, marketing and the systems behind them.
Alongside SinghStream I lead strategy, media and marketing at Everythings 13, the charity behind the Basics of Sikhi YouTube channel. Content planning, production workflow, the tools the team uses, the campaigns and the numbers that tell us what worked. That work is where my instincts for websites come from: what makes people watch, click and come back.
I'm also part of DGN Sounds, a seva project that records and shares kirtan and katha from programmes around the world. It's how I learned to make recordings and streams that people actually listen to.
In 2020 I built my first automated live streaming system for a Gurdwara. Four more sites followed. They're still on air, and I still manage them remotely.
The websites came out of doing all of the above and being asked, again and again, "can you do ours?"
What got built, and when.
- Khalsa Jatha British Isles goes live
The first automated system, at the Shepherd's Bush Gurdwara. Still streaming.
- Sri Guru Singh Sabha Southall
Park Avenue and Guru Nanak Road on one channel, morning and evening, every day.
- Derby and Slough
Guru Arjan Dev Ji Gurdwara Derby and Sri Guru Singh Sabha Slough join. Over five thousand recordings now sit on the four channels.
- Websites, properly
Shark Security UK, Rakhio, DGN Sounds and DT Windows, all built by hand and hosted on modern infrastructure.
Three rules.
Say what it is
Plain words on every page. If a visitor has to think about what you do, the page has failed.
Build the simplest thing that works
Then stop. Fewer moving parts means fewer things to break at 6am on a Sunday.
Stay around afterwards
Everything I build, I keep running. The 2020 system is still on air. Your site will be too.
Work with me
Websites, streaming systems or an event. Tell me which and let's talk.
